BEFORE DISASSEMBLY

DURING ASSEMBLY

STRUTS WITH RETAINING RING ON THE STEM

1. If your vehicle has shock absorbers with a retaining ring on the piston rod, you will often see that the retaining ring has shifted out of position and damaged the piston rod.
This fault is caused by improper tightening of the nut securing the upper elements to the retaining ring (see nut "B" in the drawing).
This nut should be tightened with a torque of 15 Nm to 30 Nm (when tightening this nut by hand, the torque is about 20 Nm). Insufficient torque may cause vibration and noise, and excessive torque may cause the retaining ring to move out of its correct position, thereby damaging the shock absorber and other parts.
3. After installing the wheels, check the tire pressure.
4. Perform a dyno test of the vehicle to ensure that all components are working properly.
4. Look carefully at the position of the original shock absorbers and note how they are positioned (assembly direction and/or external identification marks are important for some shock absorbers).
5. Make sure you have the tools necessary to carry out the work.

8. Check the wheel alignment.
9. Perform a dyno test of the vehicle to ensure that all components are working properly.
10. You have performed a correct installation procedure that avoids loss of functionality due to improper tightening of the fixing elements.
1. Carefully read the manual recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
2. Clean the surfaces near the suspension element if they are dirty.
3. Leave the vehicle on its wheels or raise it (depends on the suspension design).
1. Do not use an air gun. In this way you may twist the rod/stem and damage the chrome surface when tightening the elements, which may lead to deterioration of the shaft sealing properties and oil will leak out of the assembly.
2. Do not use pliers when fixing the piston rod - there is a risk of damaging the chrome plating, the rod seal will be damaged and the shock absorber will malfunction. Use only special tools for all types of suspension.
3. Shock absorbers should always be installed in pairs.
4. Pump the shock absorber before installation (skip this step if you have a single tube shock absorber).
5. Use a torque wrench to tighten the upper support kit silent blocks. Otherwise, if the correct tightening torque is not applied, there is a risk of damaging the silent blocks and thereby reducing their service life.
6. For shock absorbers with closed end connections and rubber bushings:
а. Until the new shock absorber is installed on the vehicle, mark (with a line under the dust cover) the aligned distance between the centers of the silent blocks at which the shock absorber mount should be tightened according to the manufacturer's instructions.
b. While the vehicle is on the elevator, tighten the upper and lower shock absorber mounts without reaching the recommended tightening torque to avoid locking the silent blocks.
6. For shock absorbers with closed end connections and rubber bushings:
d. Observe all screw tightening forces recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
7. After installing the wheels, check the pressure in the machines.
2. One of the most important factors in the proper operation of new suspension components is the use of the correct tools during the installation and removal process.
6. For shock absorbers with closed end connections and rubber bushings:
3. After installing the wheels, check the tire pressure.
c. With the vehicle on its wheels, push lightly on the vehicle body to ensure that all suspension components are in place. Make sure that the shock absorber is in the correct position (by the mark made in "a" above) and then tighten the screws with a torque wrench.
4. Perform a dyno test of the vehicle to ensure that all components are working properly.
